Life-Cise back at work

I've just returned to New York. I'm sad to be leaving India behind for now. I so value the friendships made on this trip, and have loved all the sights, sounds and smells of India. And the tastes! I love South Indian food - already I miss my masala dosas.

But, once I get over my jetlag, I look forward to getting back to my work with Life-Cise.com and Stay Fit Stay Strong. I am quite passionate about the importance of exercise before, during and after cancer treatment. So, although I miss being in India, I am happy to get back to my clients and to continue encouraging others to stay strong.

Be well - Julie

Wrapping up India

My India trip is wrapping up; I'll soon be returning home. I've had an amazing time. My travels through the South were great. I loved being in Kerala - beautiful land and equally lovely people. Highlights include the beach at Varkala and my days in the mountains at Munnar. Varkala is perched on top of cliffs overlooking the ocean. While there I stayed at the Cliff Lounge Guest House, www.clifflounge.com, run by Manoj & Malin. It's a very easy and relaxed place, great for a few days or longer of R&R. And I so enjoyed getting to know Manoj and Malin; I will certainly make an effort to visit again. The hill station, Munnar, is cool and beautiful. Although it rained every day, I was happy to get out for a soggy walk in the hills, accompanied by my young friend Babu.

I made a brief stop in Aurangabad to visit the caves at Ajanta and Ellora. These are early Buddhist and Hindu painted and carved caves. Getting to see the art there was my own personal pilgrimage. From there, it was back to Ahmedabad and my friends at Darpana.

Last weekend was Holi, a festival of color. All day long people sprinkle colored powder on each other and throw water. I confess that I'm still not really sure what it's all about, but it was fun to experience it. I played Holi with all the children in the neighborhood and their mothers. Later, there was more Holi with my friends. My glasses are stained with color - they look like they're still playing Holi.

I've made some very good friends here and am a little sad to be leaving. But I'm anxious to get home and back to my work at Life-Cise. See you soon.

Kannyakumari and Exercise for Cancer

While Life-cise.com is still down (sorry), I'll tell you of some of my recent travels. Last week I was in Kannyakumari, the very tip of India, where the Indian and Arabian oceans meet. Beautiful sunset, followed by even more beautiful sunrise. While sitting at the beach watching the sunset, I had a very nice conversation with a doctor from there. We talked at length about the importance of exercise during cancer treatments. I told him of my experience and what I'm trying to do with Life-cise.com. We talked about recent studies showing the benefits of exercise during and after treatment. Many of these studies have looked specifically at breast cancer, but there are others looking at different cancers. They indicate the importance of exercise in combating the symptoms and improving quality of life during treatment, but also indicate that exercise may be useful in preventing certain cancers. I enjoyed my visit to Kannyakumari, and was especially happy to be able to spread the word about exercise and cancer.

Life-Cise.com Down - Sorry

Life-cise.com is temporarily unavailable. I apologize; I hope this will be a short interruption. I am still in India, so there's not a lot I can do from here. However, I've got people working on it. I am confident that we'll be back up and running very soon. I'll keep you posted.

Hello from Thanjavur

To all my friends from Life-Cise and Stay Fit Stay Strong, hello from Thanjavur. I've been visiting many of the temples of Tamil Nadu. Today I arrived in Thanjavur and went to see the beautiful Brihadishvara Temple. It's an excellent example of Chola architecture from the 11th c. If any of you are every in this neck of the woods, make every effort to see it. This evening there was a concert at the temple of BharaNatyan dance. And I have wi-fi, so I'm able to catch up with all of you.

More Delays for Life-Cise & Stay Fit Stay Strong

The dancers and musicians of the Darpana Academy and I performed last thursday in Auroville. I think the concert went well; it certainly was very well received by the audience. I am now off travelling on my own for a couple of weeks. I am currently in Chennai and tomorrow head further south to Chidumburam and Tanjavor. Now that I'm no longer at Darpana every day, it's getting harder to keep up with emails. So, once again I must apologize for delays in responding to email requests to www.life-cise.com and, for those of you in the New York area, Stay Fit Stay Strong. I make every attempt to check every day or so, but sometimes it's not possible. Please, be patient, I will get back to you.
